New Printify & Amazon integration allows you to sell print on demand products on Amazon and fulfill POD orders from Printify
If you were thinking about starting a Print on Demand (POD) business selling made to order products online, then you'll be excited to know that market opportunities have just expanded greatly with the introduction of a new Printify and Amazon integration!
Up until now the best marketplace options for selling Print on Demand products were places like Etsy, eBay or Walmart. But the biggest marketplace in the world, AMAZON, was limited in selling options for POD. Sellers either had to hobble along with a manual process or use Amazon Merch to sell their limited line of print on demand products (that is IF you were lucky enough to get accepted into Amazon's own POD merch program).
The new Printify & Amazon integration is a GAME CHANGER for anyone that wants to sell everything from t-shirts & hoodies to canvas prints & rugs online without the need for inventory.
First, let's review what its all about, and then how to get started!
How Print on Demand Works
The process with print on demand (POD) is very easy.
- You add your designs to merchandise (like shirts, hats, mugs and more)
- You list your items at a retail price that is above the production cost (difference is your profit)
- Customers order items and the merchandise is fulfilled by a printing & production facility that ships direct to customer
- You never touch the merchandise, or need to pay to have inventory
Sounds great, right? The other big step though is finding a place to SELL these items. You can build your own website OR you can place these products on a marketplace that brings the customers to you. Many people sell on Etsy, which has been the top marketplace for POD... until now!
Now with the Printify & Amazon integration you can publish products from Printify to Amazon and sell directly on Amazon. When a product sells the order goes back to Printify for fulfillment to the customer.
Step 1 - Sign up for a FREE Printify Account
The first step to start selling POD on Amazon is setting up a free Printify account.
Printify - Print on Demand
Sell merch on demand for your business
Printify is one of the leading Print on Demand (POD) providers that allows you to easily open up a merch shop without carrying any inventory or upfront costs. You simply create a design and upload it to t-shirts, mugs, home decor and more. Sell it for a retail price higher than the production cost and make money from your store!
Printify easily integrates with Shopify, WooCommerce, Etsy... and AMAZON! Open a free account to get started, or upgrade to Premium for even lower production costs & higher margins.
Step 2: Sign up for an Amazon Seller's Account
Next you'll need to sign up at Amazon Sellers Central to establish your Amazon Seller's Account that will be your main seller's dashboard on Amazon.
TIP: This is currently only open to Amazon US for US sellers and using printers on Printify that are based in the US (as of August 2024)
Step 3: Choose Seller Type
You'll need to set up your seller's account as an Individual or as a Business. If you have a registered business it is recommended to use that.
TIP: You cannot change this later, so choose carefully!
Step 3: Add Seller Information
You'll need to have information that properly identifies yourself & your business - like government issued ID and contact info.
Step 4: Set Up Billing & Payment Info
Amazon needs your billing and payment info that should match whatever name or business you used in your seller information.
TIP: To make the Printify & Amazon integration work you will need to set up a Professional Business Account (cost is about $40/month). This is because you'll need extra professional features like shipping templates to make the integration work properly.
Step 5: Add Your Store & Product Info
You will need to start setting up important Amazon store information like a store name. The Store name does not need to be your business LLC. Also, if you have a trademarked business brand you can create brand storefronts in the future.
TIP: For the question: Do you have Universal Product Codes (UPCs) for all products? Select “No” as Printify products do not have UPCs, and you will need to request a GTIN/UPC exemption for your products.
Step 6: Verify Your Identity
You'll need to upload a photo ID (license or passport) along with proof of address (such as a bank or credit card bill) and may need to join a video call to prove your identity.
TIP: This final step needs to be approved by Amazon and may take a few weeks.
Step 7: Complete Set-up with Amazon
Once approved you may need to complete a few things in your seller's account like verifying bank deposits or tax information.
Step 8: Begin Publishing Products from Printify to Amazon
The hard part is over & you can begin selling Printify products on Amazon!!
A few things to note:
- Select products from US based print providers only
- Make sure you review Amazon's requirements for titles & bullets. Titles should be all initial caps and titles may be limited to 125 characters (may vary by product category)
- Make sure you have a proper shipping profile set up for the product you are publishing - setting up the cost or if you are doing Free Shipping then price the cost of shipping into your product price.
- You won’t be able to publish products to Amazon US if you do not have a GTIN/UPC exemption for the necessary product category. Printify gives you instructions on how to do that
Step 9: BEGIN SELLING!!!
Although it may seem like a lot of steps to get set up, selling Print on Demand products on Amazon, the largest e-commerce marketplace in the world, will likely be worth the effort. 🤑
